The Timing

Word is starting to spread about our moving plans. We’re getting mixed reviews. It’s about 70/30 ratio of negative to positive/encouraging comments. I believe most of the negativity is coming from people who don’t know the details of our trip or are not taking the time to listen and ask questions. I guess that’s the reason for this blog! We’re getting comments about child trafficking, the kids’ education, armed military in Puerto Vallarta, etc. Christine and I are politely listening, but typically the negative people do not want to engage in a conversation, they just want to get their point across. This is fine, but very frustrating.

I’ve mentioned before that we are planning to depart to Mexico in July of 2025. The reason for this is to get to Mexico and get acclimated, before school starts for the twins. We have already chosen their school that we would like for them to attend. Chris and I haven’t contacted the school yet to get the ball rolling, but we plan to do that after the new year. The timing for the move, is solely for the benefit of our children.

I’ve included a photo of the school below, and here is a quick summary. Elementary school students (Kinder 1 to 6th grade) receive bilingual instruction in a dual immersion program. Before entering primary school (1st grade) they attend a special pre-1st grade to develop their dual language proficiency. Our high school students are enrolled in a full dual program, receiving both a U.S. diploma and a Mexican bachillerato (high school certificate).  All of their classes are taught in English except for one Spanish language arts and one Mexican social studies class per school year (Mexican History, GeographyLaw or Civics). Our graduates speak both English and Spanish fluently.
